Marg O’Brien - 2024 John R. Sutherland Award

One of the most special awards at QCH has long been the John R. Sutherland award. It is presented to a person who personifies the warmth, professionalism, good humour, and generosity.

Marg is a volunteer at the IT help desk and is the recipient of the 2024 John R. Sutherland Award. Marg has logged more than 10,000 hours since she took on the role in 2018. She is calm and efficient, solving different problems that come into the office with patience and humour. 

When asked why she doesn’t just get a job in IT and be paid for her work, her answer is inevitably something like:  “No, I only want to come in when I want to come in. But I certainly do want to come in – my guys here need me!”
