Stephanie Neville - 2024 QCH Hidden Hero Award
The Hidden Hero Award is presented to a QCH staff member who has quietly and consistently been supporting the organization, albeit perhaps more in the background. This award goes out to someone who represents all our QCH values – Collaboration, Accountability, Innovation and Respect – and lives them daily.
This year’s Hidden Hero is hidden over at Park Place. Stephanie Neville is a Recreational Therapist at our offsite inpatient unit.
Her teammates rave about how she improves the quality of life there for everyone involved. She is known as a true ray of sunshine. She refers to patients as “her friends” and they refer to her as “the fun one.” And when she isn’t around, Park Place is truly a different place. She makes cards for patients, so they have something to look at. And has a real knack for making them feel better when they are having a bad day. Here is one little story:
“Stephanie always has a bluetooth speaker with her. There was a patient who was unable to speak English, who was tearful and felt lonely because no one was able to understand her. Stephanie asked the patient’s daughter what kind of music she enjoyed. When Stephanie played it, the patient was laughing, smiling, and dancing. Other patients began to join in. Stephanie brightens Park Place halls daily and brings joy and purpose to patients.”
