‘IT’ is National IT Professionals Day (pun intended)! At Queensway Carleton Hospital, our Technology Services department is made up of three main divisions:

  1. Infrastructure and Service Desk: This group is the backbone of our department. This team consists of network administrators, server administrators and an excellent front line service desk team.

  2. Applications: This diverse group supports the enterprise applications that front line health care workers use every day such as our Meditech EHR. This team consists of systems analysts, clinical analysts and integration specialists

  3. Clinical Informatics: This team has a clinical background and work with user groups of our clinical systems to document and prioritize change requests. They also conduct Meditech user training for our Physicians.

Fun facts:

  • QCH’s Technology Services department is also a service provider to five other hospitals in the region: Montfort, Bruyere, Carleton Place, Arnprior, and Glengarry. This partnership is known as CHAMP (Champlain Association of Meditech Partners).

  • The Technology Services department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year offering on call support after hours for urgent problems.

  • Technology Services supports patients experiencing difficulties accessing their records in the patient portal. They also offer bilingual supports.

In total, the Technology Services department consists of:

  • 6 Nurses

  • 1 Speech Language Pathologist

  • 2 Pharmacists

  • 3 Network Administrators

  • 4 Server Administrators

  • 5 Service Desk Analysts

  • 10 System Analysts
