QCH Porter to Professional Lacrosse Player

Meet Nathan Grenon, a professional lacrosse player and a Logistics Porter at QCH.

Since Nathan was four, he’s been playing lacrosse. He happened across a group of people playing and was immediately captivated. He turned to his father and said, “That’s what I want to do.” Since then, through many moves across Canada and even a stint in the USA, he’s been playing passionately.

Most recently, Nathan played for the Albany Firewolves. He adores the sport for its long history, its physicality, and the community it fosters. In the 2024-2025 season, Nathan will join Ottawa’s new National Lacrosse League team, The Ottawa Black Bears.

“If you want your kid to grow up with true friends who will always have their back, sports are a great opportunity in general, but lacrosse especially embodies that. It helps the child become a leader and teammate, making them more conscious about the world and their effects on others. Different aspects about it bring a level of family and love to kids who aren’t even related, and at that age, it’s crucial. Also, lacrosse is cheaper than hockey, which is an added bonus.”

That same sense of community is one of the things Nathan appreciates about working at QCH.

“It’s our job to brighten up everyone’s visit, and it’s nice to hear everyone's story. It’s kind of cool seeing how small of a world it really is,” he says. “The people are one of the highlights of working here.”
