Ian Judge - 2023 John R. Sutherland Award

Meet Ian Judge, recipient of the 2023 John R. Sutherland Award.

The John R. Sutherland Award is presented to a person who personifies the warmth, professionalism, good humour, and generosity of spirit that John Sutherland demonstrated himself during this time here.

Ian is a long-time employee who is part of the fabric of QCH. He is funny and warm and kind – and an absolute pleasure to work with, even during in the toughest times. He thoughtfully remembers hundreds of names and personal details because he genuinely likes and cares about people.

Ian works in Printing Services and has been quietly supporting QCH from his corner of the basement for decades. He has volunteered to organize the QCH golf tournament for years, because he believes in the importance of a fun, friendly and collegial work environment. Last year, he took on the leadership of Staff Association, bringing in new and fun activities like Trivia Nights and Paint Nights so staff can get to know people outside their own departments.

This is a significant additional workload, and it is appreciated. But it is the spirit behind it that is the catalyst for this award: a true belief in the “community of QCH” and a commitment to making sure it stays.
