Celebrating our Porters
Porters have the important role of moving patients and equipment around the hospital. They're not just strong physically but also incredibly kind and caring!
Our Porters always do their best to make sure patients are comfortable and feel respected during their transportation. They also provide patients with important information and answer any questions they may have. Porters ensure patients get to where they need to go. While many appointments are scheduled, most patient transports are on-demand. Porters also provide transport to the mortuary.
In addition to people, our Porters also transport supplies, linen, specimens, and blood products. They even help with emergency situations like code responses, which can involve things like CPR, getting equipment, and assisting Security with patient de-escalation.
The night shift porters keep things running smoothly by replenishing oxygen tanks for all units, delivering clean linen, and getting equipment ready for the next shift, such as stretchers and wheelchairs.
