Internationally educated nurse joins QCH
Lorecar Corpuz came from the beautiful Philippines in 2017 to live with her three sisters in Ottawa. She wanted to reestablish her nursing license so she could work in the US and join her husband, who was already working there. Lorecar completed the required regulatory exams for RN in February of 2019 and waited for approval to begin work in the United States.
At the onset of the pandemic, she had not yet received word about working in the U.S. With a desire to make a difference on the frontlines, Lorecar contacted the Board of Nursing to investigate working in Canada.
There were many requirements to work through, including written and oral exams to confirm her qualifications as an Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN). Care4Nurses helped Lorecar find a nursing placement in Mississauga to complete the 400 hours of safe practice required to qualify her as an IEN. Unfortunately, she came down with COVID-19 and had to put the placement on hold.
During this time, some of the requirements changed for Internationally Educated Nurses. Finally, Lorecar had luck on her side! Thanks to the many unexpected obstacles, she was able to apply for a placement at QCH to complete her IEN safe practice hours and reestablish her license in Canada. Due to her hard work and perseverance, Lorecar is now part of the amazing team on C4 and is very happy to be part of the QCH family.
