QCH welcomes new Board Chair

The QCH Board of Directors has appointed a new chair, who assumed the role last month. Ken Alger is an executive leader, retired from a career at TD Bank, who has been involved with QCH for over 12 years. He started out with the QCH Foundation board, fundraising for the Irving Greenberg Cancer Centre and Care Grows West campaigns.  When his 6-year term with the Foundation ended, he said he did not want to leave us as he was distinctly impressed with the quality of the people on the QCH team.  This led him to volunteer his time and expertise and join the hospital Board, which provides strategic and financial oversight.

Looking ahead, he sees the Board focussing on oversight of the new strategic plan for QCH and solidifying an Ontario Health Team to provide a continuum of care for the community of West Ottawa and surrounding region.  Also critical, of course, is supporting Dr. Falconer in advocating to the province for more resources to address the hospital’s challenges.

Ken and his family are active, long-time residents of Stittsville who enjoy windsurfing and skiing.  Ken also chairs the board of Advanced Mortgage Investment Corporation and previously served as President of The College of Kinesiologists as an Order in Council appointed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC).

Ken’s observation of QCH: “The culture is absolutely amazing.  Collegiality, Professional, Respectful, Innovative, Caring are all perfect descriptors for the people at QCH and it is the PEOPLE that define and bring the culture to life.
